We are Will (software engineer) and Julie (English professor), and we hope to achieve financial independence and retire early, around January 2018. That’s us at Finisterre, Spain, in June 2013, after we walked the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. So, now that we’ve been to “the end of the earth,” we are excited about exploring the rest of it as well in retirement.
If you want to read from the beginning, you can click here for our first post and then proceed from there. Or, you can click here for a short list of some of our Favorite Posts, on a variety of topics. Or, click here to get a list of All Posts. Mondays are usually when new posts will be available.
This blog will be a place for us to share our ideas about planning for retirement, check in with progress towards our goal, and to reflect on what we enjoy most in life–that we wish to continue (and keep writing about) in retirement.
Aside from food and travel, our other main passion is our rescue dog Katie. We were lucky that a shelter took her in after she was discovered as a pregnant stray, and we now understand why there are all those stickers that ask “Who Rescued Who”? You will occasionally hear about her as well, so you might as well get introduced now.
Yup. She’s cowering in our (messy and cluttered and over-full) closet, afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks and even sometimes a light rain…
We’re glad you joined us, and we hope that you will stay with us in our journey!
Julie, Will, and Katie.
